We know you are all ready for the next Magic: The Gathering set, Final Fantasy, and so are we! We have had quite a few customers ask if we are going to be offering preorders for Final Fantasy.
The short answer is: No, we aren't going to do preorders.
Let's get into why we've decided to cut preorders for this set. Wizards of the Coast has seen massive interest in Final Fantasy, and we have seen a huge interest surge in Magic overall after the success of Tarkir: Dragonstorm, continued health in the Standard, Modern and Commander formats, and excitement over SpongeBob, Deadpool, and the upcoming Avatar set. As a result, Wizards has let us know that our initial product availability will be limited for Final Fantasy. We are also unsure as to how soon we will be able to receive restocks for Final Fantasy.
As a Local Game Store, we feel like it is our first responsibility to take care of our local community members. We want all of you to be able to get SOME Final Fantasy, instead of a few people getting ALL of the Final Fantasy.
The best way we have found to do this is to eliminate preorders, only allow in-store purchases, and to limit product purchases per customer.
As a result, we will be limiting product purchases for Final Fantasy during the prerelease period, starting at 11 AM June 6th and ending at 9PM June 12th, as follows, all while supplies last. We will reevaluate the situation and will announce, at a later date, any new purchase limits that will be in effect when the set hits official release on June 13th.
Purchase Limits for Final Fantasy:
1 play booster box per person per day
1 collector booster box per person per day
1 Bundle per person per day
2 Commander deck per person per day
1 Collector Commander Deck per person per day
Play Booster Packs - 6 per person per day
Collector Booster Packs - 2 per person per day
Japanese Collector Booster Packs - 1 per person per day
We hope everyone can understand why we are taking the actions we are taking.
You CAN currently reserve your seats at the prerelease events and for the Sealed League. We HIGHLY HIGHLY suggest that you do so. We almost sold out of Tarkir: Dragonstorm prerelease events (we had 2 left), and expect Final Fantasy to have even greater interest!
You can register for the events here: https://www.evvgamingguild.com/collections/universes-beyond-final-fantasy
Customers will be able to begin to purchase Final Fantasy in-store, following the limits described above, at 11 AM on June 6th. No preorders or online purchases will be accepted.
As a Universes Beyond set, the prices are higher than a normal MTG set.
